Great News!!!!
We have had great news about one of our old dogs!! Sam bless him is doing very well in his new home!!! Not bad for a 12yr old!! Sam's new mum and dad are very pleased to have him!!!! Thank you both so much!!
Big thanks to everyone who is still collecting tombola prizes and bic a brac for the walcott sales! As always we really can't get enough things!!!! Every penny counts!!
So many of you have offered support one way or another!! We can't do this without you!!!!!!
Huge thanks to the Sea Palling charity car Park, Pat and friends have done us proud and we are so gratefull to you all!!! This money will give a huge boost to on going projects!! Thank you so much!!!!
We also need to say huge thanks to, two wonderfull ladies who brought a load of cat and dog food in to us today!! You know who you are!!!! Thank you very much!!!!!
Millie and Masie are doing well, we are still dealing with sores caused by the maggots on Millies back, she hates the collar(bucket thing to stop her chewing) but she should be free soon!!!!!!
Rolo is coming on a treat!!!! three legs are just as good as four!!!!!! he has two new friends, pepper and coco, two 12 week old kittens dumped in a door well of a block of flats!! They have very bad chest infections and one has had her leg and tail broken, sadly both breaks have not been treated, now far to late to treat!! She will always have one leg 3 inchs shorter than the others!!
I must say some people make me sick!!!! I hope if these people read this, they are ashamed!!!!
urgently needed!!!
We are trying to find someone who has a hay ring feeder, this is a large round hay bale holder, about £200 to buy new, so if anyone knows of any up for sale second hand PLEASE, PLEASE call us!!!!!!
New week new intake!! for a wildlife sanctuary we seem to get alot of calls about domestic pets!! so far this weekend we have taken in 3 cats 2 dogs 6 rabbits a rat..... !!!! too many more too count!! back at the vets in the morning with mazie and millie, two new dogs. they are in such a state we can't get to the face or neck to put their collars on! dread locks 7" long hanging from ears and feet, not forgetting a 4" deep x 7" long mat on one of their backs.... this on a large dog would be hellish but on a small cross breed it looks like a second dog growing off her???we have no choice, but to clip them back to the skin. Why would anyone let that happen???? Why would you leave one dog with the runs for 3 days before calling a vet??? Then she rang the vet to Put Them to Sleep, lucky our vets rang us and we collected them, windows open all the way to the vets... the smell!!!....... how could anyone live with that?????
Huge thanks to Sherly and Wendy for they had work fundraising over the weekend, £130 WOW!!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone at walcott for buying from the stall, as always thanks to the Owners of
THE KINGFISHER FISH SHOP,Walcott sea front !!!
Wet or what!!!
I have had to buy a bigger wheelbarrow today just to deal with all this wet bedding!! Sept is not ment to be this wet, is it???? Never mind!!!
We meet a very nice guy who works an electric company today, he must have a heart of gold!!! He rescused 15 baby pigeons from a slow nasty death, then after finding out where we are, drove for TWO HOURS to get them here !! Heart of gold!!
We meet scum on a daily basis, people who don't care or won't care!! Then you meet these sort of people and then we know why we do this 365 days a year!!! He even left a donation!!!
THANK YOU SIR!!!
Big thanks to our supporters, (the broadland greyhound club) fun dog show, last sunday!! The money rasied on the tombola we help loads!!!
Rolo (kitten up date) he is doing ok and is staying with our vet for a while longer!! I am so proud of him!! what a star!!
Huge thanks has to go to a norwich lady who has offered to pay £500 off the vet bills!!
Thanks to everyone who is sending in cheques. Most of the letters are without addresses so I can't send a thank you!!
Please don't put "sorry it's only a fiver!" Every penny counts THANK YOU!!!!
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!
Hedgehogs!!!! We have young babies in and 6 OAP hogs all with chest trouble... prob this lovely weather we been having!! As always we care for any wildlife 24/7. If you need advice call!!
Hog info!!!!
They need to be at least 1Lb in weight by the end of sept get through winter healthy!!! Even with good food and TLC a hogs only grows about 100gs a week, so out in the cold they grow even slower!!
If you find a hog out in daylight it needs help!! Flies are still a problem in sept and oct, more hedgehogs are killed by fly strike than by people and their car every year!!!
When you find one, get it indoors and in a box/carrier covered over with a towel and give a heat souce ASAP, just indorrs is not enough!!!!
Food!!!
Well.... We feed minced rabbit and wet weetabix for sickly ones and then go to other meats and cat biscuits with minced rabbit long term... Always best to contact us or hedgehog org's for help, even when you what to care for it yourself!! advice is free!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have had a gang of half wild rabbits in, a lady found two doe rabbits, soon after they poped out 5 babies. Now, mums are ok with people but babies are wilder, so we will have to see how that goes!!
For a wildlife sanctuary we seem to be doing alot of domestic pets right now!! Why, well we keep being told it's the credit crunch! but the owner turns up in a good car????? Maybe it's time to sell the belongings and pay the vets bills????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once again THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP !!!
Huge thanks to everyone who went to the fund raisers today, even in the rain it has a good weekend!!
"Rolo" is one of our long term resident cats, he is such a star!! One of his 9 lives gone !!!
This all kicked off last friday, normally he would be in our bed, but no-show!! By sat night I was thinking the worst, I had tried looking everywhere for him, but no luck!! Monday 8 am he crawled home on two legs!!
The worst had happened!!!! We think he had gone off for a walk about, he was hit by a car and it took him 3 days to get home!!!! We shot to vets @ Chaplefeild practice, Norwich rd. His right leg had been smashed in to 7 tiny bits with live maggots eating the flesh !!!(There is no words for my hate of maggots) The other leg had was not much better. So when our vet asked "that question" the only thing I could think of was.. He made it home!!! How I don't know!! but he must have hurt so much, but still made it home!! WE HAD TO TRY!! His right leg had to gone, the left leg is badly broken and needed Ian!!! This is one of the nicest guys in the bussiness!!! The bone man!!!! Also Chaplefeild pratice but at Wymondham. So far so good, 2 ops later!! Rolo is unable to move the leg much, but there is hope, thanks to our great vets!!!! Thank you all so much!!!
Bless him he is even with such bad injuries he is making it to the litter tray!!! Wow!! what a fighter!!!!
As always the cost is massive!! £2000 and climbing !!! If anyone would like to help out with that???
Please send a cheque to Chaplefield Vets, chaplefeild Rd, Norwich. addressed to Hallswood account!!
Every penny counts!!!! Thank you all!!!!
We had a sick deer in this am, which ment we were unable to join Johny and Kitty, the G hound club dog show!! sorry guys!!! the deer is doing much better!!
We did get to the Walcott sale this afternoon!!! well done ladies!! great set up in the village hall!!!
SHEEP!!!! Oh dear here we go again!! Mutley is off his food and back on antibioics, cross your fingers!!
All go here!!
Did you see our little bit on the ONE SHOW tonight ??
If not it was a show about the way people are feeling the credit crunch and how they are dumping out their pets!! Well we had about 3 mins on there, which in TV world is a long time!! As with anything like that only some of what should have been said, was said!!! At least some of the problems were heard!!!!! The down side to this, is always the same more people now know where to dump their pets!!!
Keith and the "Sofa" group are off to Loddon, House of Lords!! On the 21st of Oct,They are going to be apart of an all party look at the way animal laws are set up and try to change some on the way!!! Good luck everyone!!! For more info give Keith a call or Thorpe House School, ask for Sue Cole, The head of the Sofa Group!!!

What a day!!
If I wasn't feeding and cleaning up after the guys! We were running around collecting items for the sale in Walcott on the 6th 7th sept !! madness! On top of all that! Poor Mutley the sheep isn't well, he has been off colour and on antibioics for a few days now! not sure what has set that off, but he seens abit better tonight!! fingers crossed!!
We had a huge group of rabbits in about 8 weeks ago, most sick and under weight. The best bit of this life is watching an animal like that, bloom!! I am sorry to say we did loose a couple to their illnesses, but what a brunch we have left! Some are not trusting people anytime soon!!! I have the bite markes to prove it!! Others like Holyhock have a great new home!! Thanks Jess, good luck!!
For those who haven't heard about Hooch, well here we go!! Hooch is a puppy!! but he could be mistaken for a small pony! at only 15 months ish he already hits the scale at a cuddley 7 and a half stone!!
He is good with people and not bad with all other animals! He is playful, but knows when enough is enough!!! Loves water, hose pipe or the pond. He is ok on the lead and sometimes will carry his own lead out on a walk. He also comes back when called!!
He is willing to learn!! house trained and asks for treats by putting his paw up!!
so why is it no one will take him home??? ...... He is a great dog who wants a family of his own!!!
CAN YOU HELP??? DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO WOULD LOVE A BIG PUPPY?
